[ Thanks to being valued, he can actually have a normal day. He'll be in the cafeteria for breakfast but. You know. Also keeping an eye out for anything out of place/dead bodies in his food. ]

Nah, there's no cannibalism to speak of, just the usual. The cafeteria is clear. ]

[So nothing is going on in here? Great. Emily is stomping in and muttering under her breath. She's not going to call out to Adam as she makes food cube coffee though.]

[ He normally might let Emily just be angry on her own, but today is kind of murder day and angry people aren't a good sign? He's coming by with his food to sit down anyway. ]

Uh, Emily? Did something happen?

[thatbites]

What do you mean? This fucking ship is falling apart is what.

[She sits down with a huff, clanking the mug against the table. Sorry, she's assuming the power went out for everyone.]

[ He was up on this deck the whole time unfortunately, but that still doesn't bode well. ]

Do you mean, like, more leaky ceilings or...?

The power went out for like thirty whole minutes! [hello, hyperbole.] I was locked in the freaking gym in the dark! Don't tell me it was all hunky dory up here.

What, just now? [ He may have been sleeping until recently but that still sounds noticeable. ] No, nothing happened up here. I think everyone would be running around a lot more if it did.

So, wait, you could still breathe and everything? It wasn't like that one week?

Well, shit, I guess I just have the worst luck then. [She's rolling her eyes but now that she got the venting out of the way that's... definitely a good point.] Yeah, it was just like a normal power outage. Wasn't like what happened that one time at all, thankfully.

Is it even possible for someone to cut the power like that here?

I thought the power came from that orb in the fuel reserve. Messing with it has to be dangerous, and I don't know how you'd manage something that specific...

[ But it happened so he's not going to argue it. ] So all the doors were locked? You didn't hear anyone running away or being stabbed?

[thatbites]

Unless it just malfunction in a very specific way it would take some major techhead to figure it out. [Or a really well placed piece of metal jabbed into it, apparently. Also the repetition gets her looking annoyed.] I already said what happened. I was alone in the dark. If I heard screaming I would have said that earlier. I'm not an idiot.

[ That just gets a wry smile because, yeah, he understands but he also has to make completely sure. ]

Right. That sounds scary enough. Why did you go down there alone, by the way?

Wow, someone's chomping at the bit to play detective early. Did I miss the memo where trials were moved up one day?

Oh, no, I'm not—I'm just a little worried? [ Protect the normals (sorry totty). ] Don't you have a buddy?

[Adam always seems to get the brunt of Emily's bad mood. She takes a drink of coffee before answering.]

I worked out last night and forgot something. I was just swinging by to pick it up before breakfast but that blew up in my face. Didn't really think I would need an escort for a two minute errand.

No, you're right. [ Or he's just saying that to calm her down. ]

[She snorts. Considering an announcement has already been made apparently...]

I don't suppose I can use the excuse that it's Friday for being rude?
