Because you could go home in confidence that you'd be able to do it again. If we went home knowing everything we know here, we'd be wiser and better and able to fix it. And anyway it's still saying that there's the possibility it was true. When have Alice's motives ever been true?

[He inhales deeply.] ...I don't know if I can forgive this. But I think I can understand. Doesn't make it better, but. [A shrug.] Do you regret it?

It was part of a prophecy that hadn't been fulfilled for hundreds of years. I don't know when the circumstances necessary would have occurred again.

I'm not expecting or deserving of either. [a pause.] Parts of it, certainly.

[but not all. she respects him enough not to lie about this.

[Why did you have to use the word prophecy? Why?] ...ah. [DAMNIT. He rubs the back of his neck, not meeting her eyes again.] Were you the only one who could fulfill it? The prophecy, I mean.

And you're right. You're not. Which parts do you regret? Just the ones where you were caught?
bloodbiter: (you acorn masturbating fuck)

[personal profile] bloodbiter 2016-08-08 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
No. Someone could have done so again, but I don't know how long it would take. It took hundreds of years before it was fulfilled the first time. Hundreds of thousands of people had died.

[why this. she knows she deserves this, but that doesn't stop her from looking especially hurt for a moment.]

...No, of course not. I should have - I know I should have said something.
chiseler: (what's worth forgiving?)

[He frowns unhappily before he shakes his head]

...everyone else seems to be giving it to you pretty good. [Way to piss off a lot of people, Addie.] So I'm not going to keep scolding you. But just...apologize to Machias and Minako when you get to wherever you guys go. Okay?

[she gets it. they trusted her.]

I will. And...

[she's probably running out of time, but she doesn't know how to end this. nothing she could say feels enough.]

...Make sure you leave here.

...I'll do my best.
bloodbiter: (i have yet to take the first step)

Thank you. Not only for that, for...

[everything else. she's certain he catches her meaning.]

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-10 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
...of course. I don't regret that at least.

[Rest easy, Adelina. He has a little more sympathy than when he started even if it isn't much.]
