WEEK 9 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (9)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(19) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[Just. This look. On the bright side he's glad Marinette's finally sleeping but on the other...]

Adrien...[It's a warning dad-tone, beware, etc etc.] What good are you gonna be tomorrow if you're not well-rested?
monsieurchatastrophe: (and wondering and wondering)

What good am I in trials whether I'm well-rested or not? [a beat. it's funny because it's self-deprecating!!!] Kidding. I just wanted to make sure she rested first. She's stubborn about it, but she's not used to working off as little sleep as she got this week.

[he sounds fond even as he's bitching about how stubborn she is]
chiseler: (nice work you did)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-07 08:02 am (UTC)(link)
People who aren't well-rested do a lot more crazy things than people that are. Just a thought. [He rolls his eyes, but he also looks back at Marinette even while he's listening.] I don't know if one stubborn teenager can call another one stubborn and have it actually mean something. You trying to argue that you're used to not sleeping?
monsieurchatastrophe: (when will my life begin?)

[personal profile] monsieurchatastrophe 2016-08-07 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Then maybe you should be the one going to sleep. [still doxxing him about blowing himself up, forever. he looks at Marinette with an odd smile] Anyway, if you think I'm stubborn, you haven't spent enough time around her.

[that other one... shrugs]

Yeah? My schedule's apparently "nuts" even for a normal teenager back home, and that's without taking into account all the superheroing. I still sleep, but there's a reason they call them cat naps, y'know.

chiseler: (and as you step back into line)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-07 08:13 am (UTC)(link)
The dead don't sleep. [Doxx away, Adrien, because Luke will apparently doxx himself with shitty jokes about his own death. He tilts his head curiously.] But you're right. I haven't spent a lot of time around her, but I can kinda tell. It's a little funny.

[...but why isn't that surprising.] I was always under the impression cats don't do anything but sleep. Are you sure that's right? [He moves, nudging Adrien's foot with one of his from his seated position.] You're not as busy here. Nothing's wrong with relaxing just a little when we're all stuck in the same room until tomorrow anyway.
monsieurchatastrophe: (or maybe 2 or 3 I'll add)

[personal profile] monsieurchatastrophe 2016-08-07 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I also heard they don't talk, yet here you are. [the thing with shitty jokes is he says them right back. reflexively. it is awful. he goes on:] Sleep and eat, they're the two big cat things. Whatever it is that chose us, they missed the mark a little if they wanted a perfect match on the animal.

[he squints at Luke a little bit] Hmmmm... How about we say I'll sleep when you do? [he'll probably pass out before that, but he is not above attempting blackmail here]
chiseler: (ain't it beautiful? so unusual)

[personal profile] chiseler 2016-08-07 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Zombies aren't nearly half as intelligent as I am, you're right. [But that brings up another point:] You did eat something for dinner didn't you? [Lowkey fretting, it's fine this is fine.] I think they were a little on the mark since cats also tend to be nosy and get into everywhere. You've gotta consider that. Not sure what traits ladybugs have though.

[He lifts both eyebrows.] You drive a hard bargain, Agreste. Tell you what. I'll sleep if you guarantee me you'll eat and sleep before tomorrow morning. Deal? [Adam will probably wrestle Luke into resting anyway, worry not.]
monsieurchatastrophe: (here I go)

[personal profile] monsieurchatastrophe 2016-08-07 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, I think most zombies at least don't actively try to get themselves exploded. And I ate something, don't worry.[he had to think about it, but. he did!! and because he is being full cheeky:] Hmmm... only trait I can think of is being cute, but she's got that.

[stop being so str8 adrien its gross. he looks like he is gravely considering that proposition, and then he nods solemnly] Deal. I'm already halfway through my part of the bargain, so.
