[ Around 9 AM, AL-2955's voice chimes in throughout the ship. ]

Hello, travelers. I have an announcement to make about this week's valued and vulnerable participants, as well as a small change to the mechanics of the vulnerable list. Henceforth, there will not be a list proper of which a potential killer can pick from. Instead, if a killer would like a tool, they must express to me which person on the ship they are targeting. Plans set up to kill a random person, murders in self-defense, second degree murder, and manslaughter will not be allotted a tool. And with that, the list is as follows.

[ She reads off a list of tools. ]

Adam Parrish, for forthright attitude and high levels of suspicion.
Dorian Pavus, for participation despite his time out.
Jessie, for undisclosed reasons.

MOTIVE

[ Around noon on Monday morning, AL-2955's disembodied voice echoes throughout the ship, calm and smooth as usual. ]

Good morning, travelers. I trust you all eighteen of you are well. I am here to announce this week's motive.

[ There is a small pause, as if she must take a moment to clear her throat before continuing. ]

In W. W. Jacobs's short story "The Monkey's Paw", the Whites, an older married couple, are gifted an elusive present from India — the titular paw. It is given to them by a friend, a sergeant-major in the British army, who cites his negative experience with the paw. Namely, the paw can grant three wishes, but the manner in which the wishes are granted are not always intended by the owner of the paw.

Throwing caution to the wind, Mr. White wishes for £200. A day later, their son Herbert dies at his factory job. The company then pays the Whites £200 as a goodwill payment.

In distress, Mrs. White demands Mr. White wish for their son back. He reluctantly does so, despite knowing full well that the consequences may be grander than the fate they currently must live with — in Mrs. White's grief, she opts to ignore this possibility. After all, what mother would not go out of her way to protect her son?

A knock at the door resounds. Mrs. White is sure it is her son, but he cannot get in. The door is locked. She rushes down to him, and Mr. White, in a frenzy, searches for the paw — he knows the mistake he had made, and he wished to rectify it, and so he did. His last wish is never heard, but abruptly, the knocking stops. Upon the door being opened, Herbert is nowhere to be found.

This week, I would like to be your monkey's paw. Kill for me and live through a trial, and I will revive anyone you would like, whether on this ship or back in your world — no matter how dire or unjust their death may have been. Alternatively, if you have no one you would like to revive, you may ensure one person not in the Cradle Project's safety.

[ When the elevator doors open, the group will see an official looking area, one that seems to be of great importance — there are terminals lining the walls, and an overlong wall directly north with large double doors directly in the center. A grand statue exists as the centerpiece of the room, clocking in at about thirty feet in height. The room itself is probably about forty.

Two long hallways stretch out on either side of the room, and, if they look left as soon as they disembark from the elevator, they'll see a room cushioned into the corner of the room, labeled plainly with the letters "C.Q.".

The room itself is awfully cold and there is a distinct draft coming from the hallway to the left. Along with this, the room is extremely dusty. Everything looks as if it has been untouched for some time.

Not a soul is in sight — not even an artificial room. The room does not buzz with the sounds of cleaner robots. ]

Kind of a shame that Jason doesn't care about that third fun fact, so he's decided to team up with Jessie and Adam to take a look around the corner room.]

Think we'll find any liquefied corpses inside? That seems to be how things usually go.

They'd be rather nice statues in appropriate proportion, I should think. As it were, it's a little much. There's nothing like a gaudy statue the size of a building to immediately bring to mind overcompensation.

It's a new room. Arbok is behind her, and, as previous queries have been answered, he is immune as well. There's no reason to be fearful.]

She's going to take lead on this until someone louder and more reckless joins in, but she's Prepared, holding the hilt of the sword tightly as she begins to proceed to the room she's looking into. ]

Wonder if these rooms will top the daycare?

[At the end of the left hallway is a door. It looks like whatever's beyond it may be causing the draft, as fog can be visibly seen seeping out through the cracks of the door and dissipating into the air.

There's a label engraved onto the door. It reads ELECTRIC SHEEP ROOM.]

[ The room looks much like everyone's personal rooms, but it is much larger. Two windows give a nice view of space outside. The room is a mess. There is stuff strewn across the floor, things teetering off of shelves. The room is chilly, much like the main area outside, but it feels more concentrated in here. Almost stale. Notably, there's also a foul smell coming from somewhere in the room. If they look to the right, they'll see a desk slightly obscured by a partition. Be careful, though — there's some broken glass precariously blocking the way. Looks like someone could literally not hold their liquor. ]

[ dave raises an eyebrow, and...attempts to open the door because clearly that's what one does with doors? he will probaly have no luck but all the same he'll definitely be peering at the fog and maybe smelling it dave stop ]

[ if dave can't open the door roxy will try to phase through it, but first let's lick the fog since dave is smelling it. does it taste like. fog. ]

[Oh gods what is wrong with these two??? Questions the idiot who tried to blow himself up...but if Dave can't open it and Roxy can't phase through it he can probably try the lockbreaking thing. But he won't until he sees how those two fare first. Have fun kids.]

You know it's fog. [A beat, and he's rereading the door.] Anybody else concerned with the word "electric"?

[Sometimes, when a grown ass man asks you to detonate a mine on him, you have to take a step back and say yes. Stop blaming him for mistakes that were made??? Sheesh. Regardless — he gives a low whistle as they enter the room. This is... interesting.]

Nice digs. But I think they might have skipped out on spring cleaning.

[The desk is the first thing that catches his attention, and that's where he heads. He's wearing boots and gloves, so the broken glass doesn't worry him. Is there anything immediately apparent on the desk?]

Thanks Jessie. Wouldn't want to get mysteriously shoved onto a mine. [ He knows this is definitely not what happened but also. Let's just keep giving Jason shit.

While Jason covers the desk, Adam will try to locate the source of the smell, following it to where it's the strongest. He's only making a bit of a face. ]

This must be quarters for someone higher up. Wonder why the robots don't come in here.

[The door is locked tight. The metal is also blisteringly cold to the point of pain - if Dave doesn't yank his hand away in time, he may wind up leaving a layer of skin behind.

Roxy will be able to phase through the door, but there's no light source within the room - it's completely dark. It's also beyond freezing in there, again painfully so; the cold will get unbearable within half a minute.]
