WEEK 9 - Trial

the pygmalion. . .

ONLINE

CAPTAIN'S LOG:
WEEK (9)

saturday TRIAL DAY ONE

(19) survivors

At 9 AM, a klaxon alarm begins blaring in every area of the ship. The alarm will continue to go off until everyone has gathered in the conference room. Should anyone be running late or avoiding the trial for whatever reason, a robot guide will appear wherever they are and gently but firmly escort them into the room. Once all the living players are present, the conference room doors will lock shut; anyone who wishes to leave for whatever reason will need to ask AL-2955 or one of the robots. Anyone leaving for non-investigative purposes, such as bathroom breaks, will be accompanied by a robot escort.

The large round table in the center of the conference room has been set up to help the trial run as smoothly as possible. Three holographic screens hover above the center hollow of the table, visible from every angle. The first screen displays the pictures and profiles of the suspects and victim; the second displays the autopsy report; the third displays a blank word processor. Each of the chairs comes equipped with a virtual keyboard which can be used to type information directly into the third screen, such as theories and updated information; they can also be set into privacy mode, which will transfer whatever notes someone writes directly into their datapad instead of on screen. There's also a tablet function for those who wish to draw charts or pictures on screen. The keyboards will detect the DNA of whoever's using them and record who's typed what - simply press an area of text and the name of whoever wrote it will pop up.

The area to the right of the table has been temporarily sectioned off with a glass partition and sliding door for hygienic issues. Inside, the victim's body has been laid out on a metal autopsy table, covered by a plastic sheet. Above it is a holographic screen that displays a close-up color photograph of the body when it was found. A hand sanitizer dispenser has been considerately attached to the wall nearby for anyone getting up close and personal to the body.

To the left of the conference table is a display case. Any evidence found during the investigation will be carefully collected by the robots at some point the previous day and placed here before the trial starts. Beneath each piece of evidence is a small tablet where players can type up information, such as a short description or where it was found. There are also empty areas left over for any evidence that may be found during the trial. The shelf at the very bottom of the case has been reserved for an extra rulebook in case anyone needs it.

Food will be served throughout the day by the robots, who will take individual orders whenever you're feeling hungry. The trial will end at 9:00 PM, at which point all players will have been expected to cast their vote.

[He's stepping into this room with a lot more respect than he stepped into Jack's. As always, he'll examine the area with the ladder for anything strange, but...]

Whoever's our culprit this time is an asshole. They could have gone after one of the adults. But no. They had to take two of the kids out.

[The salt mines are open for business.

Anyway, he'll follow Elizabeth up if there's nothing weird in this area.]

[ UP ELIZABETH GOES. She'll let Jason handle the living area and ladder area - she goes to the bed to check under the mattress and pillows. ]

So it's agreed we put Marinette and Adrien under watch next then, yes? [ a Tease but - ] Does it matter if they were an adult or youth? Two more gone...

[ there doesn't seem to be anything strange about the ladder, or about the bed in general. if anything, it just looks like it hasn't been made. maybe there's some tear stains that are noticeable on the pillowcase. boo hoo.

what does stand out is the desk - there are papers and envelopes strewn about it that might warrant a closer look. but if either of them remembers her diary from when her room was searched as a suspect, it's nowhere to be found. ]

Aren't they already under watch? There are a lot of people keeping an eye on those two. [Luke, for one. Dorian is also sticking close to them, so he counts. Probably.] And of course it matters. Adults are bigger. Stronger. More capable of defending themselves. It's never the same to attack an adult over a kid.

[LOOK. KIDS DYING TRIGGERS HIM. LET HIM LIVE.

But, wow. Those are a lot of papers and envelopes. He's going to take a closer look at each sheet of paper and each envelope, and furrow his brows when he notices the missing diary. He has good memory, so...]

... Hey. [To Elizabeth, obviously.] There was a diary in her room the last time someone searched it. See if you can find it. It's not on the desk.

[It's weird.]

[ HAVE YOU SEEN HER SECRET? She killed a lady to protect a random kid!!! SHE GETS IT!! ]

Adent we kids too? If you want to be technical about it. There is only so many people to choose from, people aren't thinking about the morals behind it.

[ Elozabeth hears Jason call to her and she immediately goes to the closet/wardrobe. Shifting through outfits and shoes - anything GodDD ? ]

If it's missing, someone she trusted may be the one who - ... Ah.. Jason, so you know who Minako was close to?

[ as for what jason finds on the desk exactly besides the envelopes, it isn't much. most of the papers are blank, except for one with a simple line: ]

I'm sorry.

[ at this point, he might notice that some papers are crumpled on the floor, around the trashcan.

nothing in her closet but cute clothes. ]

I'd hardly call myself a "kid".

[It sounds like he thinks of himself as a mature adult... But it's more like, wow. He's so tired. Everything happens so much. What's a normal childhood and can you eat it?? Etcétera, etcétera.]

... Arumat, I think. But Arumat's dead. I talked to her a couple of times, but I don't know who she was close to.

[He sighs, leaving that paper on top of the desk for Elizabeth, before heading over to the trashcan. He'll uncrumple those papers one by one, checking their contents.]

There's a sheet of paper on her desk. Says "I'm sorry". Kind of ominous.

[personal profile] baptizer 2016-08-07 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Huh? What does she need to apologize for? She seemed to keep to herself... I believe.

[ Elizabeth gives a quick look into the bathroom - looking for anything that may get another glance. Yknow, like murder weapons. If nothing else, she goes to Jason with a curious look. ]

Any date? Maybe it can be relating to someone's death...?

[ there's nothing in the bathroom, save for some of that nail polish that fiona had lent her. it looks like it hasn't been used in weeks.

the crumpled papers in the garbage can look like old letters - completed ones, but apparently discarded. noticeably, they're all addressed to people that are dead: shelley, arumat, and frankenstein.

inside the trashcan itself is an even further crumpled letter. ]

"I'm sorry" for trying to murder the shit out of someone? [It doesn't sit well with him.] That's all I've got.

[Things are not looking well for Minako. Hopefully, that isn't the case. He'll glance at the old letters, too, but...]

There's a letter in the trash. Looks like it was written weeks ago.

[And he's tossing the letter at Elizabeth. Think fast.]
baptizer: (pic#10477999)

[personal profile] baptizer 2016-08-07 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
I was thinking of "I'm sorry for not saving you". Guilt can cause people to grieve in odd ways. Trust me, my own letters are - ... well, if the time comes, you'll see.

[ She says with a bit of sadness.

but goDDD, SHE CATCHES THE LETTER? Jesus, Jason chill. Her eyes scan over the letter. ]

...Looks like you're not the only one in the "formerly dead" club. Minako was too. Talked about not giving up hope.

[ She passes it off to Jason again. ]
antagonize: (046)

[personal profile] antagonize 2016-08-07 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
I already told you. I'm not letting that happen, so throw those letters in the trash.

[As always, he's being a hypocrite. Wasn't he joking about the inevitability of his own death a while ago? Yes. Yes, he was. Asshole.]

Who says I'm "formerly" dead? Maybe I've been dead all along. [It's a joke, but. It falls flat. And he sighs.] Looks like hope didn't do shit to save her, though. I guess we should take these letters and deliver them later.

[personal profile] baptizer 2016-08-07 05:54 am (UTC)(link)
Right.

[ This time, they don't argue! 1/2 in rooms. ]

Hope can have an amazing impact, Jason. Don't underestimate it. Partnering it with action... it's ... it can cause miracles, honestly.

[ FLOATING CITIES. Elizabeth gives one final look around the room, nodding. ]

I'll take care of the letters, try not to get yourself killed.

[ And watch as he immediately goes to blow himself up. ]

[ it doesn't look like there's anything else in the room of interest, aside from the diary still being missing. ]
